The proccess of creating Canine Nails

Idea -

Every set of fursuit paws needs some nails. So I decided to design them. With the help of a 3D printer I made some molds and was able to cast the silicone mold you can see in the image above. It's a two part mold with alignment features around each nail to prevent the mold from shifting and creating casting errors.

how it's made -

In a cup I carefully mix polyurethane resin, a filler and the right amount of pigment.
I then cast each nail cavity with the right amount of resin and dispose of the remaining resin.

The mold then goes into a 80-100c toaster oven to speed up the hardening process.
This saves time and is partly neccesary because of the small features nearing the tip of the nail.

where to buy -

You can buy these nails from my Etsy webshop.

I make these nails in 5 colors, Green, red/brown, turquise, grey and black.

They are shipped in a wooden lasercut carrier to pretect them during shipping.
